The University of Minnesota is committed to making a world-class education a great value for Minnesota families. Under the University of Minnesota Promise Scholarship (U Promise), eligible new Minnesota resident undergraduates with a family income of up to $100,000 will be guaranteed a U Promise Scholarship.
Eligible new freshman and transfer students enrolling for the first-time in the fall of 2011 and beyond will receive a guaranteed, multi-year, U Promise Scholarship. You must be enrolled for at least 12 credits.
- Eligible new freshmen will receive a guaranteed need-based scholarship, ranging from $570 to $4,000 each year, for up to eight semesters.
- Eligible new transfer students will receive a guaranteed, need-based scholarship, ranging from $640 to $2,000 each year, for up to four semesters.
This scholarship is not awarded for May/Summer Session(s).
If you are a Minnesota resident, you are automatically considered for the UPromise when you take two steps:
- Apply for admission to the University of Minnesota, Morris; and
- Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Students cannot receive a University of Minnesota Promise Scholarship in excess of the cost of attendance.
