Objectives:
The sponsor provides funding for a variety of humanities projects. They support programs that: cultivate appreciation and enjoyment of the humanities; create dialogue among peoples holding divergent points of view;¨search for a sense of personal identity and a sense of place through history, traditions, and new ideas; encourage community-based discussions of public policy; and pass on the values, methods, and wisdom of the humanities to future generations of Alaskans.
Proposals should fall into one of the following categories: media (radio, television, film, print); oral history; public meetings and exhibits; publications; research; and planning.
Eligibility:
Eligible applicants are nonprofit organizations, institutions, individuals, or ad hoc groups.
Charles A. Ryskamp Research Fellowships

Obejectives:
ACLS invites applications for the eighth annual competition for the Charles A. Ryskamp Research Fellowships, generously funded by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation in honor of Charles A. Ryskamp, literary scholar, distinguished library and museum director, and long-serving trustee of the Foundation. These fellowships support advanced assistant professors and untenured associate professors in the humanities and related social sciences whose scholarly contributions have advanced their fields and who have well-designed and carefully developed plans for new research. The fellowships are intended to provide time and resources to enable these faculty members to conduct their research under optimal conditions. The ultimate goal of the project should be a major piece of scholarly work by the applicant. ACLS does not fund creative work (e.g., novels or films), textbooks, straightforward translation, or pedagogical projects.
