WHO WE ARE
The Grants Development Office is a cooperative effort between UMM and Sponsored Projects Administration on the Twin Cities Campus. Our staff is here to assist in all phases of the granting process.
Roger Wareham is the Director of the office and works with all aspects of the grants process. He has primary responsibility for post-award activities. Contact Roger if you have questions about establishing accounts, grantor or University requirements, compliance issues or any other post-award questions.

Chris Wing is the Associate Director of the Grants Development Office. WHAT WE DO
What services and assistance do we provide?
The purpose of the Grants Development Office is to assist faculty and staff in securing and utilizing both external and internal resources for their research, teaching, public service and outreach. To fulfill our mission, we provide the following services and assistance.
- Funding source identification
- the Office is here to help match your funding needs with an appropriate source
- Proposal development
- the Office provides basic 'boiler plate' information and examples to help describe UMM
- assistance in editing and reviewing proposals
- assistance in budget development
- Proposal submission
- ensuring that all University or agency requirements are completed in a timely manner
- ensuring that all proposals reach the Funding Agency
- Project administration
- assistance and oversight in administering funds that have been received
- Disseminate information through Weekly Bulletin announcements and emails to individuals
- Search Sponsored Programs Information Network (SPIN) and Community of Science (COS) funding opportunities
- Review the "Federal Register", "Chronicle of Higher Education," "Chronicle of Philanthropy" and other periodicals
- Participate in on-line list serve and discussion groups
- Review awards information from a variety of sources
- Maintain library related to all aspects of seeking and using external funds
- Liaison with area groups for project coordination
- Liaison with U of M Offices.
