New Briggs Librarian

Briggs Library is excited to welcome Angela Stangl, Digital Services Coordinator, to our team.
Angela is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign where she received a Masters of Library and Information Science degree. She brings a wealth of experience from a variety of library settings and enthusiasm for being in a small town, working at a liberal arts institution.
"I'm excited to work with the campus community here," she said. "In my position I get to do a lot of things and can see the big picture rather than being stuck in a corner."
As the new Digital Services Coordinator Angela will be working with library systems and hardware, while also assisting at the reference desk. Technology has been a constant in her life. There were always computers around the house when she was growing up and her father was an early adopter. So it made logical sense that she gravitated to technical classes as an undergraduate and later in graduate school. Angela even refurbished computers for people in the community, blending technology into everyday life.
"I really love technology and understanding how things work," she shared. "My role takes library services and technology and makes it function for library staff and patrons."
It is that commitment to the people around her that is central to Angela's philosophy as a librarian.
In her spare time she enjoys reading, collecting vintage cookbooks, and creating tasty new dishes. Two of her favorite fiction works are the Sherlock Holmes canon and the Mary Russell mystery series by Laurie King.
