If you have a question, we can help!

Ask A Librarian is a reference service offered by Briggs Library during regular Library Reference Hours. Priority is given to UMM students, faculty, staff and West Central Minnesota residents.

  E-mail your question and we will respond within one business day, usually less.




  Instant Messaging

Instant message with librarians via your IM client or just use Meebo.   
Note: If you contact a librarian through our Instant Messaging networks and do not receive a timely reply please call the circulation desk at 589-6175 and ask to be transferred to a librarian. We make every effort to be available and have current status updates, but in rare circumstances we may have to step away from the reference desk.

     Text Messaging

Send a text messaage to the library's AIM IM account by typing "265010" in the "To:". In the "Text:" area type "askbriggs:". Type your message and then hit "Send".

The reference desk is located on the main floor of Briggs Library near the public computers. A librarian would be glad to assist you during regularreference hours.

Do you have research questions that can't wait, but Briggs Library reference librarians are not available? Try AskMN. It's an cooperative online service for research help that's available to all Minnesota residents and students 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
