The TREC Collection is comprised of materials used by the Tutoring, Reading, Enabling, Children (TREC) program, a collaborative effort of the Division of Education, Morris Area Public School District, and other community partners. The collection housed in Briggs Library is the Literacy TREC Track (LTT) that focuses on literacy instruction for readers ages kindergarten through third grade.
Morris students who serve as TREC tutors plan and implement the literacy development projects and lessons and work with the young readers from 3:15 until 5:30 p.m. in the library. They use the special collection of Children's Literature (easy books, fiction, and nonfiction) as well the adjacent Briggs Library Children's Collection.
TREC books are cataloged in Pounce and include the TREC designation at the top of the label. Both TREC books and those in the Children’s Literature collection are available for checkout, with the loan period being 14 days. A Briggs Library card is required to check out the materials.
