Interactive Television

Interactive television (ITV) is a communications medium that utilizes a closed network between two or more points. Unlike broadcast television signals where anyone can watch a particular program, ITV uses separate connections that are transmitted only to a particular location over the internet.

Media Services maintains the technology of four interactive television (ITV) sites in the Morris area which can be connected to two different ITV networks: University of Minnesota ITV Network and the Southwest Education Organization for Telecommunications Network (SHOT). The UM network connects campuses in Morris, Duluth, Crookston, Rochester and Twin Cities, while SHOT joins a statewide network of higher education institutions.

Scheduling for the University of Minnesota network is provided by Lyn Weiler of Video Networking Services in the Twin Cities, while the SHOT network is scheduled through Denise Jesse. For assistance or local room availability, contact Ron Rosen.
