Message from the Curator

Michael Eble

Welcome to the Morrison Gallery! I consider it an honor to serve as Curator of the Morrison Gallery at the University of Minnesota, Morris. Curating brings together my three professional interests of the studio arts, education and exhibitions. My passion for the gallery is based on my work as a practicing artist and my belief in the role that an art gallery plays within the educational development of our students, faculty, staff and the community of Morris.

The studio arts have the capacity to communicate beliefs, values, concepts, and visions. It is through our engagement and the development of our visual literacy that we can comment, interpret, celebrate, critique and expand on all of human experiences. The Morrison Gallery serves as a center of discourse on the practice and interpretation of studio arts and its relationship to culture and society. The museum provides for diverse cultural and personal perspectives through innovative and traditional art exhibitions. The gallery’s mission is to enrich the educational and cultural experience of the university and community by providing a dynamic and accessible venue that supports the cultural and artistic experiences of students, faculty, and the community.

I hope to see you at the Morrison Gallery this semester or throughout the year.
