This year's performing arts lineup:
Dancing on Common Ground, Friday, Sept. 13, at 7:30 p.m. in the Student Center Edson Auditorium, UMM. Common Ground combines Irish step-dance with two distinctly American dance forms - tapping and clogging - taking all three dance forms to a new level. Feet fly, the floor burns, the audience cheers.
Ricardo Lemvo and "Makina Loca," Friday, October 4, at 7:30 p.m. in the Student Center Edson Auditorium, UMM. Congolese singer Ricardo Lemvo and his band of African, Cuban, and Hispanic-American musicians create a brilliant blend of African and Latin rhythms and melodies. Their sound combines African soukous and rumba with Cuban salsa - a potent musical marriage by one of the greatest world music bands around.
The Rose Ensemble, Friday, November 8, at 7:30 p.m. at Assumption Catholic Church, East 3rd Street and Colorado Ave., Morris. The Rose Ensemble is a vocal group with a distinctive repertoire, ranging from Gregorian chant to Renaissance music and modern works. Assumption Catholic Church in Morris provides the perfect historic and acoustic venue for this soaring performance.
