Annual UMM Concert Band Fall Festival will be held November 11


A significant event during the fall of every year since 1979 is the University of Minnesota, Morris (UMM) Concert Band Festival. Hosted by the UMM Concert Band, the festival brings high school students from the local area, and their directors, to campus where they study, rehearse, and perform with outstanding guest conductors and artists.

This year, the UMM Concert Band will welcome guest artist Stephanie Zelnick, Professor of Clarinet, University of Wyoming, Laramie. The UMM Band also will welcome Dr. Richard Mayne, Associate Director of Bands, University of Northern Colorado as the guest conductor for the 24rd Annual Fall Festival..

There are ten area high schools involved, whose band directors have nominated their best band students. The participating schools include: Breckenridge, Campbell-Tintah, Chokio-Alberta, Kerkhoven/Murdock/Sunburg, Minnewaska, Montevideo, Ortonville, Sauk Center, Sisseton, SD, and West Central Area.

The Concert Band Festival will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday, November 11th in the Humanities Fine Arts Recital Hall. Admission is $3 for general admission, $1 for students. Free parking is available in the North parking lot.

The University of Minnesota, Morris, is nationally distinctive as an academically rigorous, public undergraduate liberal arts college. The campus of nearly 2,000 students was cited by The North Central Association of Colleges and Schools as a "model liberal arts college" in its recent reaccredidation report.
