HUMANITIES FINE ARTS GALLERY UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA, MORRIS JANUARY 16-FEBRUARY 8, 2003
OPENING RECEPTION JANUARY 16 AT 7:30 P.M.
Six artists will display 60 works of art during the first exhibit of 2003 in the Humanities Fine Arts Gallery at the University of Minnesota, Morris. Paintings, prints, and pastels by artists, Amy Bouse, California; Mary Lou Stewart, Illinois; Steve Wilson, Mankato; Richard C. Johnson, Duluth; Lisa Johannes, Wisconsin; and Marlene Maccallum, Canada, will be featured.
Although each artist has an individual style and explores themes different from one another, all prefer to create small-scale works. The title of the exhibit, "Small Matters of Great Importance," indicates this trait that one will view in the exhibit. The title also emphasizes the importance of what is presented. Each artist has developed perception, theories, and practice for decades and is a master of his or her particular medium and means of expression. However small each work may be, the message of each is significant and communicated with skill and subtlety.
A public opening reception for the exhibit will be held at 7:30 p.m, Thursday, Jan. 16. Gallery hours will be Monday through Thursday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m, Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday 1 to 5 p.m. Parking is available in the north lot in the places reserved for visitors.
