Science Room 1020 University of Minnesota, Morris
The second program of the spring "Great Conversations" series spotlights a discussion on "Business Ethics" with Norman Bowie and Thomas W. Dunfee at 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 17, in room 1020 of the Science Building at the University of Minnesota, Morris.
Norman Bowie is the Elmer L. Anderson Chair for Corporate Responsibility at the U of M's Carlson School of Management. Thomas Dunfee holds the Joseph Kolodny Chair of Social Responsibility in Business at The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Bowie and Kolodny will discuss recent scandals and questionable business practices that have rocked America's corporate world. Bowie will share his insights into the moral obligations of multinational corporations and the relationship of ethics to corporate profits. Dunfee has written extensively on the role of morality in markets and global business ethics. This program will be broadcast via large-screen TV to the coordinate campuses from the Ted Mann Concert Hall on the Minneapolis campus. While there is a charge for the series in Minneapolis, the local broadcast is free and open to the public.
The six-part "Great Conversations" pairs leading University faculty with eminent world authorities to explore and illuminate subjects in today's headlines. Each conversation will last about an hour, followed by a short question and answer period. Refreshments served.
Mark your calendars for the last program of the spring "Great Conversations" series: April 22 (Earth Day) for "Biotechnology and the Environment" with Anne Kapuscinski and Margaret Mellon.
Please join us for "Great Conversations." The series is produced by the College of Continuing Education with support from the University of Minnesota Foundation in recognition of the generosity of Presidents Club members.
