"An extraordinary fusion of ancient and modern dance, the company embroiders filigrees of dance across the sands of time with wistful, magical enchantment," says Jack Neal's Dance Reviews.
Neal is describing the elegant, sensual, and captivating Lily Cai Chinese Dance Company, who will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 21, in Edson Auditorium on the UMM campus. The Company's presentation is part of this year's Performing Arts Series at the University of Minnesota, Morris.
The Company melds ancient Chinese and modern dance forms in a performance of beauty and fire. It bridges past and present with spectacular dances, dazzling costumes, original music and multimedia designs.
Primary funding for the Performing Arts Series is provided by University of Minnesota, Morris students. The series is made possible by a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, through an appropriation by the Minnesota State Legislature.
The Lily Cai Chinese Dance Company performance is a Heartland Arts Fund Program with major support from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Minnesota State Arts Board.
