Area financial advisers wishing to learn about gift law or seeking updates on current tax legislation in Washington are invited to attend a national teleconference broadcast at the University of Minnesota, Morris on Thursday, May 1. National continuing education credits have been approved for CPAs, and credits for CFPs, CLUs, and CLEs have been applied for.
The Crescendo GiftLaw Satellite Teleconference will explore charitable gift planning opportunities such as charitable remainder and charitable lead trusts, and family foundations. A review of the CARE 2003 act, recent IRS rulings and charitable tax cases will be covered, along with an analysis of President Bush's $1.3 trillion proposed tax reductions.
Registration for the teleconference, titled "The Donor Would Like Control," will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the UMM Student Center. The program for the conference, sponsored by the University of Minnesota Foundation and the Minnesota Medical Foundation, is scheduled from 1:45 to 4:30 p.m. A faculty of nationally recognized financial experts will provide information.
The $15 teleconference charge will include two hours of continuing education credit, extensive reference material and free parking at UMM. Registration deadline is Thursday, April 24. The teleconference is open to all interested parties.
