Student Undergraduate Research Symposium

Friday, April 23, 2003 at the Social Science Building, University of Minnesota, Morris.

The scholastic achievements of nearly 50 undergraduate students attending the University of Minnesota, Morris will be showcased during the third annual Undergraduate Research Symposium on Friday, April 23, on the Morris campus. The public is invited to attend.

"UMM prides itself on being a part of the University of Minnesota and sharing in its tripartite mission of research, teaching, and service," said John F. Schwaller, vice chancellor for academic affairs and dean. "For faculty and students at UMM, undergraduate research is one of our core values. What sets UMM apart from other undergraduate institutions is the emphasis that we place on research. The Undergraduate Research Symposium allows us an opportunity to share the best of that research with one another and with the scholarly world."

Registration for the Symposium will begin at 2:45 p.m. in Social Science room 123. Following brief introductory comments at 3 p.m., also in Social Science 123, student presentations will begin at 3:30 p.m. and continue until 5:30 p.m. in the following Social Science rooms: 123, 236 and 245. Poster presentations and a reception will follow from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the Student Center.

The 2003 Undergraduate Research Symposium Committee members are; Jeff Ratliff-Crain, associate professor of psychology, chair; Arne Kildegaard, associate professor of economics; Leslie Meek assistant professor of psychology; Jenny Nellis, chair, Humanities Division; Paula O'Loughlin, associate professor of political science and assistant to the dean; and UMM senior Hope Miller.

Funding for the Undergraduate Research Symposium is provided by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs.
