The work of six graduating seniors from the studio art program at the University of Minnesota, Morris will be featured during the 2010 Senior Art Show. The campus and community are invited to the gallery grand opening at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 22, 2010, in Humanities Fine Arts (HFA).
Works in ceramics, sculpture, digital imaging, video, drawing, painting, photography, and printmaking are represented in the exhibit. Senior artists, their areas of concentration, and their hometowns are as follows: Yang Mee Moua, drawing and painting, St. Paul Sammy Vankrevelen, painting and photo-digital, Coon Rapids Debbie Covart, drawing and photography, Ramsey Michelle Leedahl, drawing and painting, Glenwood Dixon Bordiano, drawing and painting, Minneapolis Tessa Bordiano, sculpture, Minneapolis.
“As a professor, it is quite fulfilling to watch each senior develop creatively through his or her own work,” reflects Michael Eble, associate professor of studio art. “They begin their education through a rigorous basic studio sequence that instills a firm grasp on their art fundamentals. Over time, they begin to formulate their own processes and concepts through a sustained practice of studio classes and classes outside their major. In the end, these students are artists with an acute sense of visual literacy and are also critical thinkers and writers.”
The 2010 Senior Art Show closes after Commencement on Saturday, May 15, 2010. HFA Gallery hours are from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. Monday–Thursday from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. Friday and from 1 until 4 p.m. Saturday.
