University of Minnesota, Morris Dance Ensemble will present “Dancing in the Street” as the 2010 spring show on Friday and Saturday, April 23–24, at 7 p.m., and on Sunday, April 25, at 1 p.m. Performances will be in Edson Auditorium in the Student Center on the Morris campus.
The theme will resonate throughout the production with a large ensemble dancing to the title song. Morris students choreographed most of the dances, including salsa, swing, and hip-hop styles. Ferolyn Angell, and Victoria Olender, dance teaching specialist, also choreographed featured dances.
During spring semester, more than 150 students participated in Dance Ensemble. “Dancing in the Street” will be the final Dance Ensemble performance for about 30 seniors participating in the show.
Senior Kelly Herzberg, Paynesville says, “I have been involved with Dance Ensemble since my first semester as a freshman and have loved every minute of it! I have especially enjoyed the leadership end of Dance Ensemble. I have choreographed seven dances and have been on the Dance Ensemble Board for two years. I love exploring and learning new styles of dance, as Dance Ensemble enabled me to do throughout my four years.”
Tickets will be available at the door or contact the Office of Student Activities at 320-589-6080.
