Regional Fitness Center entrance detour

As part of the city of Morris’s summer construction projects, Second Street, which runs through the south end of the Morris campus, is undergoing a makeover. The construction project will start on the east end of Second Street and finish at its intersection with Columbia Avenue.

Due to the construction project causing inconvenience for entering the Recreation Fitness Center (RFC), a new road has been built that stretches from Columbia Avenue, near the Morris Area Public Schools, to the RFC parking lot.

The public is asked to avoid using East Second Street. People who typically park in the West Lot should consider parking on College Avenue (The hour-long parking restriction will not be enforced during Second Street construction.), or the East and South lots during construction.

Project coordinators plan to have the entire Second Street project completed by mid August, prior to new student orientation. After completion of the Second Street project, the new road will be used as a bus lane.
