Get in the holiday spirit with Ratty and Mole. Follow the adventurous duo from beloved classic Wind in the Willows as they discover “A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols.” The University of Minnesota, Morris Concert Choir, under the direction of Ken Hodgson, presents its 2010 Carol Concert on Friday, December 3, at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, December 4, at 8 p.m., and Sunday, December 5, at 2 p.m.
Ratty and Mole, later accompanied by their friend Badger, will be at Assumption Church at 207 East Third Street in Morris to enjoy the concerts and join with the audience in singing carols and hymns.
“A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols,” an English tradition typically taking place on Christmas Eve, weaves together words and music to tell a story familiar to many. And just as the magical creatures of the book realize the possibilities of redemption after several missteps, somber opening music leads to the joyful message of the season.
The concert lasts one hour and twenty minutes with no intermission. Performance only tickets are $6 for general admission and $4 for students, children, and seniors.
An English style meal prepared by Bello Cucina will be served in the lower level dining area of the church one-and-a-half hours prior to each performance. The menu tentatively includes London Broil, or a vegetarian option, and steamed pudding. Reservations are required. Meal tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for children 12 and younger.
Tickets for both the concert and meal may be purchased online, by calling 320-589-6239, or stopping by the Information Desk in the Student Center.
