Alumnus Doug Lennick, CEO and co-founder of the Lennick Aberman Group, will serve as the 2011 Commencement speaker at the University of Minnesota, Morris.
An internationally known speaker on the development of successful individuals and organizations, Lennick’s expertise is in the practical applications of the art and science of human behavior, financial and otherwise. In Moral Intelligence, author Lennick and co-author Fred Kiel employ the image of a compass to illustrate the message. They assert that leaders who follow a path of integrity, responsibility, compassion, and forgiveness—a moral compass—seek a life destination, a powerful place of understanding, which leads to personal and professional satisfaction, and success.
Lennick is also the author of the recently released Moral Intelligence 2.0: Enhancing Business Performance and Leadership Success in Turbulent Times The Simple Genius (You), co-author with Roy Geer, Ph.D. of How to Get What You Want and Remain True to Yourself, and co-author with Kathleen Jordan, Ph.D. of his newest book, Financial Intelligence: How to Make Smart, Values-Based Decisions with Your Money and Your Life.
Before founding the Lennick Aberman Group, Lennick was an American Express Financial Advisors executive vice president. Now known as Ameriprise Financial, Lennick retains the title of executive vice president and senior adviser to the chairman and CEO. He is a Carlson Executive Development Center Fellow at the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management and a member of the Consortium for Research on Emotional Intelligence in Organizations.
Commencement will be held on the campus mall at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2011. The public is invited to attend to hear Lennick’s speech, or watch the streamed event online at morris.umn.edu, or listen to the address on KKOK radio, which will broadcast the event.
