University of Minnesota, Morris (UMM) is hosting a summer camp and renewable energy tours this summer. The Morris Nature Quest Camp is for children who will be entering 4th or 5th grade this coming fall. The camp will encourage children to consider their relationship with nature by embarking on a quest that will explore gardening, tree identification, building a wind turbine, and more. The four-day camp will take place on the Morris campus from July 16 until July 19 from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. each day. The cost is $40.00 for the camp. Registration is due on July 11.
UMM is offering renewable energy tours for the public for free, we leave at 2 p.m. and return by 4 p.m., on July 14 (leaving from East Side Park), July 27 (leaving from the Welcome Center), and August 11 (leaving from the Stevens County Fairgrounds by the Lee Community Center). During the tour you can see and touch a biomass gasification reactor, wind turbines, a solar thermal system, solar photovoltaic (PV) modules, and more. Save your seat on the bus by pre-registering.
Registration information for the camp and tours can be found at morris.umn.edu/greensummer.
