Soup and Substance Leads Discussion on Minnesota Constitutional Amendments

Posted by Miles Taylor '13, Wood Lake on Monday, Oct. 8, 2012

Event Date/Time: Monday, Oct. 8, 2012 5:30 pm
Location: Imholte Hall 111

On Monday, October 8, at 5:30 p.m. in Imholte 111, the Office of Community Engagement will host a Soup and Substance open forum on the proposed constitutional amendments coming to the Minnesota ballot. Tim Lindberg, instructor of political science, will be present to moderate as his research centers on amendment law. Soup and bread will be served at the event, which is free and open to the public.

Soup and Substance began as a student initiative to provide a safe place on campus in which to talk about privilege and oppression. The Office of Community Engagement picked up the program in 2009. As the eventís new organizers, the Office restructured Soup and Substance to welcome community members. Student organizations and campus disciplines typically co-host the event with a community organization.

"[It's a] chance for everyone to share stories about their experience," says Argie Manolis, Office of Community Engagement coordinator. "Everyone is a teacher and everyone is a learner."
