The University of Minnesota, Morris is pleased to present its second Celebration of Scholarly Accomplishments, an ongoing event showcasing examples of outstanding research and artistic work produced by faculty and staff. The event is sponsored by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Dean, the Office of the Chancellor, Rodney A. Briggs Library, and the Grants Development Office.
This year’s Celebration of Scholarly Accomplishments will feature displays of research and creative activities undertaken by more than 50 current and retired faculty and staff members. The displays will be open for student and public viewing on Wednesday, November 14, from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. and on Thursday, November 15, from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m. in the Student Center's Oyate Hall. All are welcome to celebrate and discuss these displays of exemplary work.
“We are very pleased to be celebrating and showcasing the remarkable research and creative activities of our faculty and staff,” says Bart Finzel, vice chancellor for academic affairs and dean. “Support of research can serve to invigorate faculty and grow the research enterprise.”
“The quality of an academic institution is measured by many things—and among the most important is the scholarly work of the faculty who teach there,” adds Chancellor Jacqueline Johnson. “This event provides a window into the rich, robust, and varied array of academic, creative, and intellectual life at UMM.”
The Celebration of Scholarly Accomplishments demonstrates Morris’s ever-growing commitment to accentuating faculty research as well as the honors faculty receive in their fields. The event has even garnered the attention of University of Minnesota Vice President for Research Timothy Mulcahy, who is planning to attend as part of his last visit to the Morris campus prior to his retirement in December.
