The University of Minnesota, Morris Art Club will be holding its annual holiday art sale from Thursday, November 29, to Saturday, December 1, in the Humanities Fine Arts Gallery. The sale will be open from 5 to 9 p.m. on November 29, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on November 30, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on December 1. A campus tradition, the sale features work by students, faculty, and local artists.
“The Holiday Art Sale has been going on for more than 30 years, giving the Morris community a wonderful opportunity to find one-of-a-kind artworks and other handmade items to gift or keep for their own enjoyment,” says Jess Larson, professor of studio art and Art Club adviser. “Students, faculty, staff, alumni, and local artists sell their works each year, and a percentage of the sales fund Art Club’s yearly activities.”
“It is a great place to buy unique and locally created presents for yourself and your family,” says Luci Riffel ’15, Virginia, an Art Club executive member. “You get to support our local economy and see what your fellow students and community members can create.”
One of Riffel’s fellow students, Anika Kildegaard ’13, Morris, will be selling jewelry, earrings, and bracelets at this year’s event.
“I have always loved the art sale. It’s a great way to get beautiful and unique Christmas gifts and to support local artists—of which there can never be enough,” says Kildegaard.
Twenty percent of all sales support Art Club co-curricular activities that include hosting guest artists and traveling to Chicago.
