Priority Deadline for Competitive Scholarships Approaches

Posted by Jenna Ray on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012

The University of Minnesota, Morris invites incoming first-year students to compete for its competitive scholarship packages. In order to be considered, students must submit an application for admission, required materials, and a competitive scholarship application and essay by Saturday, December 15. These scholarship packages are awarded to students with exceptional academic and leadership records. Recipients will be selected during a competitive interview process held at Morris during the first weekend in February.

First-year students for fall 2013 are invited to compete for the Prairie Scholars Award and the Morris Scholars Award. The Prairie Scholars Award is a full-tuition scholarship package renewable for up to four years. The Morris Scholars Award includes a $24,000 scholarship package, disbursed evenly over four years, plus a one-time $2,500 scholarship stipend. The stipend may be used during the second, third, or fourth year at Morris to engage in an eligible scholarship experience such as a research or artistic project, study abroad, or travel to academic conferences.

“Prospective students must apply to Morris by December 15 to be considered for these outstanding scholarships,” says Bryan Herrmann, director of admissions. “I encourage students to take advantage of this opportunity. Contact our office if you’d like help with the application or more information about the scholarships—the admissions staff are ready to help.”
