The University of Minnesota, Morris will welcome approximately 200 prospective students and their families on Friday, February 1, and Saturday, February 2, at the seventh annual Community of Scholars event. Students from across the country will compete for the University’s most prestigious competitive scholarships: the Prairie Scholars Award and the Morris Scholars Award.
Students from Minnesota, Wisconsin, North and South Dakota, Illinois, Texas, Colorado, Florida, Michigan, Missouri, and Arizona have been invited to participate in this year’s event. In addition to vying for prestigious awards, candidates will have the opportunity to connect with other scholarship finalists, to interact with current students, to engage with faculty and staff, and to explore the Morris campus. Students and their families may also take part in tours of the surrounding community.
Recipients of the Prairie Scholars Award are selected for their exemplary academic and leadership records. Prairie Scholars receive a scholarship package equivalent to full tuition, renewable for up to four years.
Recipients of the Morris Scholars Award receive a $24,000 scholarship package, disbursed evenly over four years. In addition, Morris Scholars receive a one-time $2,500 scholarly stipend that may be used to engage in an eligible scholarly experience—to study abroad, to participate in research or artistic projects, or to travel to academic conferences—during their second, third, or fourth year at Morris.
