The University of Minnesota, Morris invites incoming first-year students to compete for its competitive scholarship packages. In order to be considered, students must submit an application for admission, required materials, and a competitive scholarship essay and application by December 15.
Competitive scholarship packages are awarded to students with exceptional academic and leadership records. Recipients are selected during a competitive interview held at Morris in early February.
There two competitive scholarship packages for which students may apply: the Prairie Scholars Award and the Morris Scholars Award. The Prairie Scholars Award is a full-tuition scholarship package renewable for up to four years. The Morris Scholars Award includes a $24,000 scholarship package (disbursed evenly over four years) and a one-time $2,500 scholarship stipend. This stipend may be used to engage in an eligible scholarship experience such as a research or artistic project, study abroad, or travel to academic conferences during a student’s second, third, or fourth year.
“Prospective students must apply to Morris by December 15 to be considered for these outstanding scholarships,” says Bryan Herrmann, director of admissions. “I encourage students to take advantage of this opportunity. Contact our office if you’d like help with the application or more information about the scholarships—the admissions staff are here to help.”
