Morris to Host Chris Hedges in a Convocation

The University of Minnesota, Morris will host Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and writer Chris Hedges in a convocation on Tuesday, January 28, at 7:30 p.m. in the Student Center’s Edson Auditorium. The title of Hedges’s talk is “The New Atheists as Secular Fundamentalists.”

A foreign correspondent for nearly two decades, Hedges writes and speaks extensively on war, religion, culture, empire, and the conflict in the Middle East. His Tuesday-evening lecture will examine faith and belief in American society.

A graduate of the Harvard Divinity School, Hedges has written for The New York Times, Dallas Morning News, National Public Radio, Mother Jones, Harper’s, and the Christian Science Monitor. He is the author of many books as well as a weekly column for the web magazine Truthdig.com. Hedges is a senior fellow at The Nation Institute, and in 2002 he received the Amnesty International Global Award for Human Rights Journalism.
