Faculty and Staff Honored at Recognition Dinner

The 2014 Faculty and Staff Recognition Dinner was held on Thursday, April 24. Hosted by Chancellor Jacqueline R. Johnson, the event provided the campus an opportunity to congratulate faculty and staff award recipients and to thank retirees for their service to the Morris campus.

Faculty award recipients include:

-Bradley Deane, associate professor of English, Horace T. Morse-University of Minnesota Alumni Association Award for Outstanding Contributions to Undergraduate Education

-Sheri Breen, assistant professor of political science, UMM Alumni Association Teaching Award

-Stephen Burks, associate professor of economics and management, University of Minnesota, Morris Faculty Distinguished Research Award

-Roger Boleman, director of instructional and media technologies, Mary Martelle Staff Award

-Madison Anderson 14, Pennock, Mary Martelle Student Award

-Sandy Kill, interlibrary loan manager, Outstanding Support Staff Award (AFSCME)

-Lisa Harris, associate administrator of facilities management, Outstanding Support Staff Award (Civil Service)

-Dale Michealson, lead copy center operator, Outstanding Support Staff Award (Teamsters)

Jennifer Zych Herrmann, associate director of student retention and success, Academic Staff Award

Ten retirees were also honored: Boleman, Cathi Halbe, building and grounds supervisor, Jane Harstad, senior building and grounds worker, Judy Kuechle, associate professor of secondary education Pat Nelson, executive office and administrative specialist, Ginger Nohl, executive operations/student services specialist, Tom Rach, carpenter, David Raths, building and grounds worker, Ann Marie Vangstad, senior building and grounds worker, and Michael Vangstad, maintenance and operations supervisor.

At the dinner, retirees were welcomed into the University of Minnesota, Morris Retirees Association (UMMRA), which provides opportunities for retirees to meet new friends or to stay in touch with old friends and helps make the transition to retirement a bit easier.
