The University of Minnesota, Morris Symphonic Winds is proud to learn that four of its members have been nominated to the 2007 College Band Directors National Association's Intercollegiate Honor Band (CBDNA). The nomination is an honor especially because the ensemble is highly competitive and comprised of only the most outstanding students from 15 Minnesota universities, UMM being one of those.
Thomas Henchal, trumpet, Jessica Henry, horn, Brian Kotila, euphonium, and Lisa Musielewicz, trumpet, are the four UMM students honored with the nomination. They will attend a three-day program, February 15-17, at the Minneapolis Convention Center Ballroom.
Each year, the Minnesota chapter of the CBDNA organizes the opportunity for Minnesota's most talented music students to assemble. The program includes intense rehearsals followed by a performance. This year's Honor Band will be lead by Hungarian conductor Laszlo Marosi. The culminating performance will be held at the Minneapolis Convention Center during the 2007 Minnesota Music Educators' Association Mid-winter Clinic on Saturday, Feb. 17.
The performance will include Kamillo Lendvay’s: "The Last Message of Maestro Tchaikovsky," "Bottle Dance" by Antal Farkas and Frigyes Hidas’ "Save the Sea - Symphony for Band.”
