Bill and Payment
Student Login
This is where you, the student, can authorize someone to view/pay your bill. It requires your University-assigned student Internet ID and password.
Parents/Authorized Payers Login
This is where any authorized person may view/pay their student's bill. The student will need to first create a login name and password for you.
General Information:
The University of Minnesota offers electronic billing and payment of your Student Account bills (tuition, fees, housing, books, etc.) Electronic billing is the official means of generating tuition bills to all University of Minnesota students. What this means is that the UM Pay electronic billing and payment system will automatically send an email notification to the student's U of M email address when the bill is ready to be viewed online. Students will need their U of M Internet ID and password to login to the UM Pay system. Authorized payers will need to use the login name and password provided by their student. Once logged in:

E-Bills
If you are currently enrolled, you will receive an e-mail notice that your student account billing statement is ready to be viewed online. The e-mail notice will be sent to your University-assigned e-mail account approximately two weeks after the semester begins and monthly thereafter. You are responsible for checking your University-assigned e-mail account for your billing notice e-mail and for making your account payment(s) on time.
Your billing statement will list both a new balance and the minimum payment due and a due date. To avoid paying any late payment fees or installment plan charges you must pay in full by the first due date. Payments must be received by the due date to be considered on time. Online payments can be made with an eCheck from your checking or savings account or by credit card at UM Pay, the University of Minnesota's online billing and payment system. See the Business Office site for links to due dates and all payment options.
If you pay less than the full payment due by the due date and you are officially admitted to a University degree or certificate program, you will be placed on an installment payment plan. A fee will be added to the balance due on your next billing statement. In addition, you will be assessed a late payment fee on your next statement any time your payment is less than the minimum amount due by the due date. More info on UMM's Payment Plan
Paying Online
The quickest way to make your payment to your student account (and avoid standing in line, writing checks, and buying stamps) is to pay electronically through the Student One Stop (see login link above). Online payments can be made by:
- electronic transfer of the payment amount from your bank savings or checking acccount
-
a credit card charge for the amount of your payment plus a service charge
If you choose to transfer funds from a bank account, your payment will be posted to your University student account on the same day, if you submit the payment before 5pm Central Standard Time. You can easily set up authorized payers to make payments on your behalf.
You may also choose to make a payment with your MasterCard, DISCOVER, or American Express credit card (VISA is not a participant).
- Credit card payment is available only as an online service of UM Pay. The University will not accept credit card payments through the mail, in person, or over the phone.
- If you or your authorized payer choose the credit card option, you will be required to pay a non-refundable service charge per transaction. The charge is 2.75 percent of the payment amount. For example, if you make a $500 payment with a credit card, you will be assessed $13.75.
- The service charge will appear as a separate line item on your credit card statement. All costs for choosing to pay with a credit card must be assumed by the student/authorized payer. The University does not receive, nor will it underwrite, any portion of the service charge.
- You will make your credit card payment through the services of a University vendor, infiNET, on their secure Web site. Directions are provided online. You will be asked to confirm the total of the payment amount plus the service charge before the payment is finalized. infiNet maintains a record of your payments for your future reference.
Go through the link above for further information on login procedures, authorizing a payee, direct deposit, and more, or contact the UMM Business Office.
