Why UMM for Pre-Law?


The UMM Pre-Law program offers many exciting opportunities, including:

1) Access to a wide range of interesting Pre-Law courses, including the special May Session offering, "Administration of Judicial Proceedings in American State and Federal Courts." In this course, students spend three weeks observing a wide range of judicial proceedings, including civil and criminal trials, sentencing, probation violations, and involuntary commitments to chemical and mental health facilities. Students also spend significant amounts of time interviewing judges and attorneys. The class has been very popular so be sure to sign up quickly!

2) Internship opportunities at the Stevens County Attorney's Office: UMM students have unparalleled access to criminal prosecutions, including the interviewing of defendants and/or witnesses, the drafting of criminal complaints, and the observation of a wide range of criminal proceedings.

3) Law and Graduate School Night: Held each Fall so that you can get information designed specifically for you as you prepare to enter law and/or graduate school.

4) LSAT Preparation Assistance: Well-designed FAQ and assistance from our Pre-Law advisor to assist you in your preparation for this important law school placement exam.

5) Individualized Law School Selection Services: Our Pre-Law Advisor will assist you in maximizing your chances of getting into the top law schools, as well as offering detailed information on admissions requirements and criteria at the various law schools.
