Pre-Engineering
UMM offers three different pre-engineering options for students wishing to continue their engineering coursework at the University of Minnesota Institute of Technology. The pre-engineering program at UMM is designed to prepare students for a variety of different areas of emphasis, including:
  • Aerospace Engineering
  • Geological Engineering
  • Biomedical Engineering
  • Computer Engineering
  • Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Chemical Engineering
  • Materials Science Engineering
  • Civil Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering

  • 2-2 Program
The 2-2 program at UMM is designed to allow students to complete their first two years of college at UMM and then transfer to the UM Institute of Technology for two years. Upon completion of this program, students receive a BS in engineering from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. In the first two years at UMM, students are able to take advantage of the individualized attention, small classes, and excellent science facilities that our campus is able to offer.

    Dual Degree Program (3-2 Program)
Through the dual degree program, students are able to receive a BA degree from UMM as well as a BS degree in engineering from the UMTC in five years. The first three years of the program are spent at UMM while a student completes a major in chemistry, computer science, mathematics, physics, or statistics. The student then transfers to the UM Institute of Technology to complete their education in engineering.

    Bachelor's and Masters Program
This option allows students to complete their full undergraduate education at UMM and pursue a Masters degree in engineering through whichever school they wish to attend. Students who chose this option will typically major in chemistry, mathematics, physics, or statistics for their B.A. from UMM. Upon graduation students are able to look at a variety of different engineering programs and obtain a B.A. and a Masters within six years.
