Statistics
UMM's Statistics major is very useful and desired by graduate schools and employers in many fields. Our students use state-of-the-art computers and software for statistical analysis in our dedicated Statistics Discipline Computer Lab. Also, students are exposed to the interesting research problems that our faculty are engaged in, and can obtain financial support for assisting faculty on their research projects.

Our Statistics faculty are passionate about student learning, which is why you'll never find teaching assistants teaching Statistics courses at UMM. We have two winners of the all-University of Minnesota Horace T. Morse award for excellence in undergraduate teaching (Engin Sungur and Jon Anderson). Our Statistics professors also have research interests in areas such as Composite Sampling, Bayesian Statistice, and Biostatistics.

Upon leaving UMM, many of our Statistics graduates go on to graduate school in fields like Political Science and Statistics. Others find work at companies like Best Buy, Musicland, the Mayo Clinic, Medtronic, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
