As a lifelong gardening enthusiast it only seems natural that Sue Gooch shares her knowledge and love of gardening with the Prairie Yard and Garden viewers. Sue took a Master Gardener course from the Minnesota Extension service that was offered in Morris, Minnesota in 1986 and has been active as a Master Gardener ever since. Sue served on the Minnesota State Advisory board as a representative from Stevens County and west central Minnesota for four years and was Chair of the board during 1994-95.

As a gardener, Sue likes to make maximum use of a small amount of gardening space. Herbs, raised beds, season extending techniques and low maintenance gardening techniques are some of her favorite gardening topics of interest.

Prairie Yard and Garden viewers know Sue as the host, and writer, of the show. Sue was a consultant to the show before becoming the host in 1993. When a new host was needed for Prairie Yard and Garden they turned to Sue and she accepted the offer and is currently in her sixth year as host.

Sue certainly spends a lot of time looking through seed catalogs and planning her own garden at her home in Morris, Minnesota. Sue, however, has not always lived in Minnesota. Originally from Vermont, also called Berkley, California home for several years. Now Sue and her husband have called Minnesota home since 1976.

When asked about the show Sue says, "I believe that Prairie Yard and Garden has become a great resource for the specific information applicable to our regional growing conditions that gardeners in our viewing area have learned to rely on." Sue also says, "The best part of being involved with Prairie Yard and Garden is the wonderful people I meet wherever I go, both those that I work directly with for a show, and those that recognize me on the street and share their garden experiences."
