All American Selections for 1999

Interested in growing award winning varieties this year? Try some of this year's All America Selections. Here are some of the 1999 winners of this prestigious title.

Two winners are represented by zinnias - 'Profusion Cherry' [1] and 'Profusion Orange' [2]. Both are heavy bloomers with few of the disease problems of past zinnia cultivars. These lovely 16-24-inch plants are covered in two to three-inch daisy-like flowers.

'Bonanza Bolero' [3] is a French dwarf marigold with two-inch, double gold flowers with red markings. They are easily grown from seed, are early to bloom, and mature at 10-12 inches tall.

If peach is a color to your liking, you can now find it in the moss rose 'Sundial Peach' [4]. This plant with semi-double flowers thrives in hot conditions, growing to a height of five to six inches with a spread of 10-12 inches.

Another new color for this year is found in Verbena 'Quartz Burgundy' [5]. These rich, wine colored, two-inch flower umbels will cover the low growing plants that spread to a 15 inch mound. They are trouble-free and grow best in full sun.

Other winning selections are Begonia 'Pin-up Flame' and Osteospermum 'Passion Mix'. Try some of these All America Selections in your garden this year.
