Men's: Six players at a time. May play with five.
Field Size: 80 yards long, 40 yards wide, 10 yard end zones.
Playing Time: Two 20 minute halves with running time and 3 minute halftime. Each team is allowed two 1 minute time-outs per half. Time stops only on time outs. Time does not stop at the 2 minute warning, it does not automatically stop if the game is in the last 2 minutes, and it does not stop when a player runs out of bounds.
GAME RULES:
- The team that wins the coin toss at the beginning of the game chooses whether to receive the kickoff or defend a goal and kickoff. At halftime, the teams switch sides and the team that received 1st half must kick off to start the 2nd half.
- Kick off must be made from the ground at the 15 yard line. No punt-kickoffs are allowed. The receiving team can be no closer than the 25 yard line.
- On kickoffs and punts, a touchback results in placing the ball at the 15 yard line. Kickoffs going out of bounds before the 20 yard line will be marked at the 20 yard line.
- Rushing is allowed after the three second whistle. If the offensive player starts to run, the rusher(s) still must wait for the whistle. Early rush or offside will result in a 3 yard penalty and replay of down.
- Each 20 yard line marker is a first down.
- When the ball carrier's knee touches the ground, the ball is considered dead at that point.
- Flags are to be worn at the sides of the players and outside of their shirts. The flags cannot be folded under the belt. Any person wearing a folded flag can be penalized.
- Players are not to grab and hold onto belts, clothing, etc. of an opposing player. Penalty will result in the opposing team's choice of letting the play stand or a 3 yard penalty with the replay of the down.
- Quarterback sneaks: the QB is not allowed to take the ball directly from the hike and run up the middle. The QB is, however, allowed to take the ball and run toward the outside. Infraction results in a loss of down with the ball being replaced at the line of scrimmage.
- Blockers are at no time allowed to leave his/her feet such as diving or jumping. No physical or aggressive blocking is allowed. A body screen-type is allowed. Tackling is not allowed. 1st offense for tackling or cut blocking will result in an ejection from the game. 2nd offense will result in a possible ejection from the league.
- All players are eligible to receive the ball.
- Runners may not spin or use an extended or stiff arm to ward off tacklers. The play will be ruled dead at the point of infraction.
- If a player is clearly going to make a touchdown and is tackled or inhibited in any other way than the pulling of the flag, the touchdown will be awarded to him/her.
- Punting: The punting team must tell the refs and the opposing team that they are going to punt, no fake punts are allowed. A fake punt will result in the loss of down.
- Fumbles: If the ball is fumbled into the end zone, the ball is placed at the point at which the ball left the runner's hands.
- Co-ed A girl must be an integral part of at least one of every four plays. A girl hiking the ball or immediately handing it off is not considered a girl play. An infraction results in a 5 yard penalty and loss of down. The refs are not required to inform either team of a necessary girl play unless the team asks him/her first.
- Only 20 seconds are allowed for each huddle. If the ref has to tell you more than once, your team will be given a 3 yard penalty.
- Any player can and will be ejected from a game for swearing, unnecessary roughness, harassing of refs, etc. As deemed by the refs. Refs may consult the directors' and/ or rules for correct rulings. The ref's decisions, whether changed or unchanged, are final and will be supported by the directors.
LEAGUE RULES:
- Refs must be supplied by the teams indicated in parentheses on the schedule. Failure to supply a ref will result in a forfeit.
- The number of teams reaching the play-offs will depend on the number of teams left in the league at the end of the season.

- Each team will consist of 3 players with a maximum of 5. The time will be two 8-minute halves with a running clock. Halftime will be 1 minute.
- Ball must be checked at the top of the circle after each score or each foul. Deliberate stalling or freezing will result in loss of possession.
- Fouls will be counted against the team as a whole. Prior to the fifth team foul, the offending team will lose possession of the ball. On or after the fifth team foul, foul shot(s) will be taken and the team also gets the ball back. This is 5 fouls per 8 minutes.
- A player may not foul out, but may be ejected at the score keepers discretion.
- There will only be 5 minutes in between games to warm up, so the next team should be ready to go.
- We will be playing half court for all games.
- Varsity and JV players are not allowed to compete in this contest.
- We will have men's league (A and B) and Women's league (A and B).

Matches -Each match will consist of the best of 3 games. Rally scoring will be used to 25 win by 2, with a maximum of 30 points scored. Rally scoring is a score every time the ball is served to either the serving or receiving team depending on the side out. If a 3rd game is needed, it will be played to 15.
Service- In the first game service will be determined by rock/paper/scissors. The team not serving first in the first game of a match will serve first in the second game. rock/paper/scissors will determine service if a third game is needed. Any controversial plays will result in a replay.
Legal Hits- A legal hit is contact with the ball by a player's body which does not allow the ball to visible come to rest even momentarily.
A team is not allowed to play the ball more than 3 times before it crosses the net into the opponents court: EXCEPT when the first contact is an attempt to block, in which case the next hit is considered the first hit.
- Balls hit behind the standards and into the opposing team's court are out.

- Blocking a ball, which is entirely on the opponents' side of the net, is permitted when the opposing team has had an opportunity to complete its attack by spiking the ball, completing its hit or serving the ball.
- All teams will be expected to call their own net fouls, double hits, etc,
Substitutions- Substitutions may be made by rotating players
in by gender at a particular position (such as into the serving position)
Boundaries- The ball is playable off of all original structures
except for the walls. However, if the ball touches a rafter as it passes over
the net, a side-out or point is awarded to the team that was to receive the
hit ball.
Tournaments- A single elimination tourney will be played at the
end of the regular season in both A and B leagues. (The number of teams in the
tourney is not known at this time).
WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL RULES
- Varsity Women's volleyball program players cannot participate in the recreational league (even if they only played JV).
- The ceiling is playable as long as it is
on your side of the net. A serve or a pass that hits the ceiling and crosses
the net is a side out, and a point for the opposing team.
- Captains, please have your team ready to play at least 10 minutes before
the scheduled start of your game. This is important to keep the games on schedule.
- Teams may play with no more than 6 people at a time. You may play with fewer
but to your own disadvantage. Must have a minimum of 4 at all times.
- Substitutes must be rotated in at the same position on the court regularly
( serve)

If the winner of the toss chooses the serve, the loser gets the choice of
courts.
- Matches will consist of the best 2 out of 3 games, rally scoring to 25 points.
You must win by 2- cap at 30. If a third and deciding game is needed, it will be played to 15 points with no cap.
- Let serves are legal. This means that a serve that contacts the net and goes over is good and must be played.
- No attacking the serve. Players cannot block or attack the serve unless they are behind the 3 meter line.
- Please call your own lines and other infractions. Illegal hits
should be called with respect to a team's capabilities and game situation.
If there are any disagreements, simply replay the point. Remember that it's
only a game and you're here to have fun.
- Each team will be allowed 2 time outs per game.
- Please keep track of the score. At the end of each game the captain of the
winning team should report the final score to the director.
- A tournament will be held at the end of the season for each league. The
number of teams that will be in the tournaments has not yet been determined.
The teams qualifying for the tournament will be seeded according to regular
season W/L records and percentage of points won per match. This is why it
is important to report scores after each game. If you forfeit a match you
will receive zero points for two games.
BASKETBALL RULES
GAME RULES:
- We will play 5-on-5. A team may play with fewer than 5 people to its own

- Free throws will be shot during the last two minutes of each half only.
At that time, a person fouled while shooting will receive 2 free throws. All
other fouls will be bonus situations.
- For fouls committed before the last two minutes of the half or game, the
ball should be checked out at the top of the key.
- If the ball goes in the basket after the person shooting is fouled, the
basket will count and possession will simply go to the other team.
- Since there will be no referees in the regular season, technical fouls will not be assessed. However, there will be a student director overseeing every game and if a player or team gets out of hand, the student director has every right to eject a player from the game and/or league if he/she is continually acting in an unsportsmanlike manner.
- Anyone ejected from more than one game in a season will be automatically ejected from the league. It is the captain's responsibility to keep his/her players in check throughout the season. Inability to do so may result in the team being removed from the league and the loss of the team's forfeit fee.
- Players may play on only one team. Teams caught having
players playing on more than one team will be given a forfeit for each game.
- As captains, you are responsible for your team's understanding
of the rules. Follow these guidelines and we should have no problems. If you
have other questions, refer to the manager's handbook on the web or call Corey at 6167.
