28th TINMAN TRIATHLON Coverage - David Jensen is 28 and from Fungus Falls, which is what Angie Hop calls the town of Fergus Falls because she's from Alexandria and folks there like to make fun of the towns that their town plays high school sports against. We digress.

David is also a loyal guy, and a patient fellow to boot.

David is loyal to the Tinman Triathlon in Morris, which has a mocking nickname but we don't know what it is. He's raced there every year since 2007, except of course in 2008 when 14-inches of race-eve snowfall resulted in the event's cancellation. And he's done remarkably well, placing 2nd in 2010 and 3rd in '11, '09 and '07.

Patiently, he has chipped away at the competition and was rewarded with a victory last Saturday. The experience was sweetened by the fact that he lowered his PR on Tinman's quasi-international-distance courses from 1:55:55 to 1:54:24, and his margin of victory over local runner-up Matt Smidgall , was a lumpy 4:05. Way to hang in there David!

FYI, Jensen's competitive resume also features a win at his hometown race --Hoot Lake Triathlon --in 2010.

Ryan Deyounge , for whom a mockable hometown was not listed in the results, though we're almost sure that he has one, unless, of course, he lives in his car, rounded out the men's podium in 1:59:27.

The attitudinous Bette Rowley , who lives in Bloomington, which has a really profane mocking nickname that won't be printed here, and loves to nap and read, though not at the same time, was this year's women's Tinman champion. According to her Facebook page, she likes Jell-O and loved the movie "Juno." Who doesn't! Ellen Page was terrific, a total hoot!

Second place at Tinman went to past winner Cindy Cook . Nikki Rath 's took 3rd.

Thirty-nine triathletes finished this year's race (62 registered, 41 attended). Though we weren't there, we suspect that the weather conditions were kinda yucky. RESULTS
