Use this handy list to check off the items you’ve completed, and print a copy to take with you as you finish the remaining tasks.
- Review your APAS report.
- Meet with your adviser each semester.
- Add name to wait list for closed classes.
Check the section status tab in the Class Schedule to make sure that the class you want is still open. Some classes fill quickly. You may add your name to a wait list, if one is available.
- Get a class permission number.
If a class has “instructor approval,” “department approval,” or “college approval” printed in the prerequisite statement, you will need a permission number from the instructor. Each semester after the essential deadline, you will need an instructor permission number to register for all courses. Class permission numbers expire at the end of the second week of the semester.
- Get approval for class time conflicts.
You cannot register for classes that overlap or have less than one (1) minute separation without submitting a Class Time Conflict Approval form signed by the instructors of both courses.
- Clear holds on your student record.
You will not be able to register if you have any holds on your student record. Notice of any hold, including the name of the department or office where it may be cleared, is available online. Clear your holds as soon as possible.
- Verify your health plan coverage.
If you are taking 6 or more credits, you are required to have health plan coverage. You must provide verifiable coverage information by the end of the second week of the term, either at the 1) time you register or 2) at the One Stop Quick Link, Health plan coverage. If you do not provide proof of coverage, you will be automatically enrolled in and charged for the University-sponsored Student Health Benefits Plan.
