Official Transcripts

Official transcripts are signed by the University of Minnesota, Morris registrar and certified. At your request, official transcripts can be directly sent to you or to your chosen recipient(s).

Ways to request an official transcript

Request online: quick and convenient

The online request is the most convenient way to order an official transcript. Transcripts requested online are available in either a print format or an electronic, secure, certified PDF format. Payment for fees must be paid with a debit or credit card: Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Diner’s Club, and Discover. According to University policy, official transcripts will not be issued for you if you have certain types of holds on your record. You can review your holds online.

PDF transcript »

$15 each transcript

An electronic, secure, certified, PDF transcript is “official” in its unaltered electronic form. Each time the file is opened, it will be certified electronically (Internet connection required) to ensure it has not been altered. A printed copy of a PDF transcript is not official. Electronic transcripts are widely accepted, but before ordering, confirm with your recipient(s) that this format will be accepted.

  • Typically, transcripts are processed within one hour, no later than one business day.
  • A download notice is automatically sent to recipient(s) when transcript processing is complete.
  • Orders for electronic transcripts placed during regular system maintenance on Sundays from 6 a.m. until noon will be accepted, but they will not processed until the next business day.
  • PDF transcripts can only be requested online.

Paper transcript »

A paper transcript is “official” as long as it remains in its sealed white envelope until it is received by the appropriate recipient. Do not open the sealed envelope if you are forwarding your transcript to an institution, employer, or person. Open the envelope only if you have ordered the transcript for personal use. Multiple paper transcripts, each in its own sealed white envelope, sent to a single address will be enclosed in a manila envelope that can be opened.

Good to know information

Unofficial transcript

Available at no charge, an unofficial transcript can be reviewed before ordering an official transcript. If you need recently awarded grades or degrees to appear on your record, check your unofficial transcript to be sure that all information has been posted before starting the order process for an official transcript. If you are a former student or graduate, you can activate your Internet ID and password (jump link to No under Internet ID below) to access your unofficial transcript.

Certification letter

If your intended transcript recipient did not specifically request a transcript, a certification letter may be sufficient and, in most cases, available to you free of charge.

Applicants to a University of Minnesota Graduate Program

If you are a current or former Morris student applying to a graduate program at the University of Minnesota, please do not upload an official University of Minnesota transcript to the online application. Instead, upload a copy of your unofficial transcript. There is no cost for the unofficial transcript and the graduate admissions office will only request official transcripts if you are admitted to your graduate program of interest.

The University of Minnesota does not accept phone or email requests for transcripts to protect the privacy of students in regard to their academic records.
