Cafe Scientifique Asks, "Organic Food: Fact or Fiction?"

The next Café Scientifique will take place on Tuesday, March 25, at 6 p.m., at the Common Cup Coffeehouse (501 Atlantic Avenue, Morris, MN 56267). Brad Heins, assistant professor of organic dairy management at the University of Minnesota’s West Central Research and Outreach Center (WCROC), will lead the discussion, “Organic Food: Fact or Fiction?” All are welcome to attend. Audience participation is encouraged.
As research into organic food and farming expands, many are curious to know if organic food is healthy and nutritious. Heins will present engaging summaries of recent research regarding nutrition and economics of organic production systems. He will also focus on recent organic dairy research at WCROC.
Café Scientifique is an ongoing series that offers a space where anyone can come to explore the latest ideas in science and technology for the price of a cup of coffee. Meetings take place outside of a traditional academic context and are committed to promoting public engagement with science. Additional information is available online. Interested audiences can look forward to additional discussions, typically held on the last Tuesday of selected months in 2014.
