Verifying Eligibility for Services
The Disability Services Coordinator verifies that a student has a disability and registers students with disabilities for services provided through the office. Students who are determined to be non-disabled are referred to other campus and community resources, such as Academic Assistance or UMM Student Counseling for assistance.

Accommodation cannot be provided until documentation is complete. However, individual instructors may be willing to make minor adjustments to a course. See Self-Advocacy Skills for advice about how to talk with your professors.

If the initial documentation is incomplete or inadequate to determine the extent of the disability and reasonable accommodations, the office has the discretion to require additional documentation. Any cost of obtaining additional documentation is also borne by the student. If the University desires a second professional opinion, the University bears the cost.
