Mike Miller
Coordinator of Cultural Programs/Assistant Director

Mike Miller served at UMM from 1987 until his retirement December 2008. Prior to that, he worked for the University of Wisconsin, River Falls, and for Northland College in Ashland, Wisconsin. He also worked as the Indian Education Director with the Superior Public Schools in Superior, Wisconsin.
He earned his B.S. from Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina, and his M.S.W. from the University of Minnesota, Duluth. He did extensive graduate work in educational administration, counseling psychology, and doctoral work in social work research at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities.
His role as Coordinator of Cultural Programs involved counseling support, academic advising, student leadership facilitation, and working with student organizations. He also assisted in the recruitment of students of color and aided students in career enhancement.
Mike was responsible for the coordination of World Touch Cultural Heritage Week and the organization of the Multi-Ethnic Student Program Orientation, an orientation program for ethnic minority students that occurs during New Student Orientation.
