How to Read the Interactive APAS Degree Audit

The top of the header includes student name, ID, Major and the audit bulletin (catalog) term year being evaluated.

If you want to view the APAS on your computer screen choose the “Open All” link.

When you first open the audit, the degree requirements are collapsed down to just titles. Click on "Open All" to expand the audit to show the details for all requirements. Clicking on “Close All” will collapse the audit back to just requirement titles. If you wish to view details of an individual requirement, you can do so by clicking on the small, gray triangle to the left of the requirement title.

If you want to print the APAS select “PDF format of the report.” This will provide a two column, text only version of the audit without charts and graphs.

Charts and Graphs

You will see a pie chart, a vertical GPA graph, and two sets of horizontal bar graphs (Hours/credits and GPA)

Pie Chart: The pie chart represents the minimum total number of credits required for a degree (University policy is a minimum of 120 credits for Bachelor degree programs). This corresponds to the minimum credit requirement.

If you position your cursor over a section of the chart, the credits for that section will be displayed.

The dark green section indicates the total number of credits earned; the light green section indicates number of credits currently in-progress. The pink section indicates the number of credits needed to complete the minimum total credits required.

The purple color in the legend will indicate planned courses, a future enhancement not currently available.

NOTE: The pie chart does not reflect the number of credits actually being used toward your degree; you must review your entire audit to determine if all of your requirements have been fulfilled.

GPA Vertical Bar Graph: The blue vertical bar graph next to the pie chart indicates all courses used to determine your University of Minnesota GPA. A minimum of 2.0 is required for the Bachelor of Arts degree.

Horizontal Hours Bar Graph: This graph includes the GPA requirement, General Education, possibly others (e.g. majors) in the future. The legend for this graph is the same as that of the pie chart. The blue bar graph is the GPA that corresponds with the Hours Bar Graph.

Drilling Down in the Audit

Each of the categories in the bar chart may consist of several requirements. You may drill down to view these individual requirements and their associated charts and graphs by clicking on the bar graph for that category. You may drill down another level to view individual sub-requirements and the associated charts and graphs for those sub-requirements by clicking on the requirement for which you would like to see details.

If you click on the "General Educ" horizontal bar you will open up the individual requirements:

By clicking on one of the horizontal bars it will open that requirement (e.g. SCI)

You may drill back up to any level by clicking on the appropriate level in the upper left-hand corner. By clicking on "Return to Main Page" in the upper right-hand corner, you will be taken to the main APAS request screen.
