Changes to Official Transcript Ordering
(Effective February 8, 2012)

New online ordering system

A new online system for ordering official transcripts is scheduled to go live on February 8, 2012. This new system will:

  • be available for all students, former or current, from all University of Minnesota campuses.
  • not require an Internet ID (x.500) and password to create an order.
  • offer faster ordering and processing (all orders will be considered "rush" orders).
  • provide the option for electronic (secure, certified PDF) transcripts.

Electronic transcripts

Electronic transcripts are official, secure, and certified PDF transcripts. They are offered and recognized by many institutions. An electronic (secure, certified PDF) transcript is "official" in its electronic form as long as it is not altered. Each time the file is opened, it will be certified electronically (internet connection required) to ensure it has not been altered. A printed copy of a PDF transcript is not official.

While electronic transcripts are widely accepted, requestors must confirm with their recipients that they will accept this format before ordering.

New pricing structure

The following pricing structure will take effect when the new online system launches on February 8, 2012. The price for all transcripts, regardless of ordering method or format, will be $12. This represents the first price increase for basic, non-rush transcript requests in more than ten years.

Payment for online orders and requests made by fax must be made by credit card. In-person and mail requests can be paid by check, money order, or credit card. In-person requests may also be paid in cash.

Note! Charging an active student account is no longer an option for payment.
