PHYSICAL EDUCATION CENTER SCHEDULING POLICIES
All rooms on the Morris campus require prior scheduling before use. Generally, facilities are available to faculty and student organizations without charge when properly scheduled. Non-University groups should contact the

Physical Education Center Policy Statement
Physical education facilities at UMM include the PE Center and playing fields.
PE Center facilities exist primarily for instruction in physical education, intercollegiate athletics, intramurals, individual recreational opportunities for members of the University community, and University cultural functions. Groups attending conferences, short courses, or other special University offerings will be considered part of the University community.
All safety regulations will be enforced by the recreation attendants. Non-compliance will result in loss of privileges.
All facilities will be locked when not regularly scheduled or when no recreation attendant is present.
The Director of Intercollegiate Athletics is responsible for enforcing these regulations.
Priority Use of PE Center Facilities
Although UMM students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to use the Physical Education Center and outdoor sports fields when classes are in session, UMM PE classes, intramurals, and athletic team practices will be given priority. For answers to any further questions on the scheduling of physical education facilities, call the PE Center, or the Office of University Relations.
Priority for use of PE Center facilities shall be granted in the following order: curricular purposes, intercollegiate and intramural events, University sponsored events and programs, student organization sponsored events, community sponsored non-profit events, community sponsored events for profit, events scheduled by commercial, political, religious, or other outside sponsors.
Policy for University Sponsored Activities
For events involving the PE Center or other physical education facilities (such as intercollegiate, intramural, or athletic clinics and tournaments), contact the athletic director of the PE Center.
UMM sponsored groups or agencies wishing to schedule events of a non-athletic nature in the PE Center or other physical education facilities must also contact the athletic director.
Final scheduling will be the result of mutual advising and consultation between the Physical Education Center and the Office of University Relations.
The Office of University Relations will provide scheduling clearance and information regarding particular services not normally identified with the Intercollegiate Athletics Department (e.g., promotion, publicity) and non-athletic campus services (e.g., parking, custodial, police).
When necessary, scheduling of all intercollegiate use of the physical education facilities may be subject to faculty or administrative approval.
Policy for Non-University Sponsored Activities
Policies governing the use of University facilities by non-University groups apply to non-university athletic programs as well as to any other kind of non-University sponsored programs. For non-University events of an athletic nature, groups should contact the athletic director who will then consult with the Office of University Relations. Events sponsored by a non-University group and of a non-athletic nature will be scheduled through the Office of University Relations even if the facility requested is a physical education facility.
Non-University sponsored events in physical education facilities will not be encouraged if such events would cause cancellation or postponement of regularly scheduled University classes or events. Use of the PE Center facilities by non-University groups is more readily arranged during quarter breaks and over the summer.
Equipment and Rental Information
Equipment is available during use hours through the PE Center equipment door on the first floor of the PE Center. A $10 yearly charge will be assessed students wishing to rent a locker, lock, and to have towel service ($3 lock deposit is refunded upon return of the lock). Towel service is not available weekdays after 5pm or on weekends. Payment can be made at the Equipment Room, PE Center lower level.
Non-University groups may be awarded some usage of facilities and services on a scheduled fee basis provided there is no interference with UMM programs.
The playing fields are intended for the physical education, intra-mural, and intercollegiate athletics programs and for other student, faculty, and staff purposes. Exceptions maybe made for individual groups outside the University community on a scheduled fee basis.
Equipment issue, outside of regularly scheduled PE classes and UMM student and faculty use during facility hours, will be subject to the following: equipment to special interest groups or persons will be issued only upon payment of a $10 damage deposit in the PE Office. The deposit is refundable upon return of the equipment in an undamaged state.
