The Office of Student Activities, through its programs and facilities, coordinates and implements a comprehensive cultural, educational, recreational, and social cocurricular program that contributes to the University’s primary mission of undergraduate liberal education which:
- Celebrates the diversity of our community and the world at large
- Challenges individuals to evaluate their personal and societal values and beliefs
- Creates gathering places that enhance community life
- Provides students with extensive opportunities for leadership and citizenship experiences which empower them to take a lead role in the life and mission of the university and surrounding community
- Creates a supportive and enriching atmosphere which cultivates enduring loyalty to the University
Provides and facilitates event production support for both internal and external users which:
- Produces consistently high quality events while allowing ownership of the event to be retained by the sponsoring group
- Provides a user-friendly, streamlined process for event planning for all groups to host events on the Morris campus
- Coordinates the sharing of information about special events to the entire campus
- Encourages collaboration and communication between campus departments that interact with these events
- Works at least one month ahead to anticipate needs of special events and assist programmers and/or sponsors in meeting those needs
Creates a “Signature Appearance” for major Morris events:
- Assists campus planners of major events in presenting their events with the Morris signature appearance
- Hosts external guests (or trains sponsoring groups to host) in a thoughtful and consistent manner that leaves guests with a positive impression of Morris
- Produces all major campus events as designated by Chancellor
Furthers the University’s mission of outreach by:
- Optimizing the use of campus facilities and resources throughout the year in a fashion that is both profitable and furthers the educational mission of the institution
- Recruiting off-campus groups to use campus facilities for camps, conferences, and events
- Facilitating planning and coordination of services for successful conferences and events
