Library Interlibrary Loan Assistant I

Position Description:

General Summary:
Interlibrary Loan student workers play a very significant and essential role in the efficient daily operations of the Interlibrary Loan Department. They provide support for the Interlibrary Loan manager and are responsible for processing interlibrary loans at every level.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
1) Unpack courier totes and open mail
2) Pull item request slips
3) Print book bands and notices
5) Place book bands on items and prepare notices for mailing
6) Preform filing duties
7) Pull returns from Circulation Desk
8) Pull slips and process return paperwork
9) package mail-back returns
10) Download lending requests from OCLC
11) verify, pull items from Briggs Shelves, and photocopy when necessary
12) Update requests in management software to print book bands
13) Place book bands on books to be loaned and prepared items for mailing
14) Miscellaneous duties assigned by supervisor

Qualifications/Additional Comments:

Minimum/ Essential Qualifications Needed to Preform Job:
Willingness and ability to work an established schedule, pay attention to detail, ability to use computers and interlibrary loan software and system keyboarding skills ability to work without close supervision dependability, good communication skills, willingness to work closely with other students, and ability to follow verbal and written instructions ability to problem solve.

Preferred Qualifications:
Previous library or service position experience.
