Position Description:

Fall 2013-14 openings (7 hours per week): Well-organized, creative student needed to develop and write news, event, and feature stories for5
dissemination on- and off-campus. May be assigned web writing assignments as well. Must possess strong
interpersonal skills and the ability to interview, research, and write articles/pages as assigned. Must be
motivated and have the ability to work independently.

Principal duties and responsibilities

• write feature and news stories about University of Minnesota, Morris students, faculty, staff, alumni,
organizations, programs, events, and information

• conduct background research for story development, interviews, and writing

• schedule and conduct interviews

• organize materials, photographs, and text for projects

• write web text

• photography as needed

• other duties as assigned to contribute to the University of Minnesota, Morris communication office

Qualifications/Additional Comments:

Creative thinker. Excellent writing ability computer skills ability to work in an organized fashion in order
to meet deadlines ability to learn University of Minnesota and Associated Press style rules. Must be able to
communicate skillfully and cordially with campus and public constituents.
