Position Description:

This intern position will play a key role in the inaugural phase in creating and maintaining a digital image database containing photos of the past and present UMM campus. This project is a collaborative effort of many departments and this position will work with Media Services, Briggs Library, and University Relations. Two major aspects of the experience are working with Media Services to select photos that are currently in digital form, and working with Briggs Library and University Relations to gather information needed to populate the metadata fields in the database. The first aspect involves selection of photos of aesthetic and technical quality as well as appropriate subjects. The latter aspect will involve studying existing campus materials and interviewing individuals to ensure that correct and complete descriptive information is provided for each photo.

Qualifications/Additional Comments:

The student will profit from the technical skills learned, the interpersonal experiences involved and the data gathering strategies devised.
